Welcome to the premier episode of Transporter Lock, the weekly Star Trek: Discovery podcast! The first new Star Trek TV show in 12 years debuts on CBS All Access and Netflix on Sunday, September 24, 2017. Set ten years before Captain Kirk helmed the Enterprise, Discovery will be unlike any Trek before it — and we’re here to put it in context. Every week, Ken Gagne and Sabriel Mastin will be providing recaps, reviews, and analysis of each new episode.
In this launch episode, we await the upcoming launch of Discovery by sharing our love for all the Star Treks that have come before — television and movies, live-action and animated. We’ve cosplayed, been to conferences, and gotten celebrity autographs. But for all we know about the past, there’s still much we don’t know about Discovery. We look at what teasers are out there and conjecture where Discovery will go that no Star Trek has gone before.
